Miami Vice

June 11th, 2021

Crypto Week in Miami was a great excuse to meet people we’ve been Telegramming and tweeting with all pandemic long.
Within Delphi—an increasingly distributed team—it was even a chance to meet coworkers for the first time. Look at all this alpha being leaked on the DeFi boat:

Seriously, the calibre and conviction of people in crypto were inspiring. One common refrain I heard throughout the conference: “I can’t imagine doing something different.”

In a strange twist of fate, however, the Miami weekend finished with the best for last.

If you recall, several Delphi analysts bought a $140k NFT from the electronic duo Disclosure back in March. This led to Guy Lawrence, one half of Disclosure, appearing on The Delphi Podcast. (If you haven’t listened to the episode, Guy speaks fluently about NFTs and their potential to create new relationships with fans. It’s well worth a listen.)

Coincidentally, we kept running into Guy (aka Disclosure) at Miami crypto events, and we floated the idea of him DJing a house party. To our complete surprise, he said, “absolutely.” So on 48 hours of notice, we scrambled to host the party of all parties. See Anil’s thread for the full story:

Amid the chaos in Miami, Delphi has continued to fire on all cylinders. This week we published a must-read Oracles report for clients, a new bitcoin macro deep-dive, and daily bites detailing this week’s on-chain moves. And on the podcast side, we sat down with the founders of Seed Club and Gitcoin. Plenty of alpha to dig through over the weekend.

Stay degen,

Here were the highlights from this week’s research:

[Delphi Daily] ETH 2.0 Won’t Stop, SushiSwap Loses Pace, and BTC Futures Basis Back on Track

  • Kusama (KSM) and Solana (SOL) have been two of the best performing crypto assets in the past few weeks despite being two of the hardest hit coins by May 18’s crash.

[Research Report] The Oracle (Report) Of Delphi

  • In this report, we compare and contrast oracle solutions by their designs, economics and strategies. We cover live, sector leading projects, such as Chainlink and Band Protocol, in addition to promising newcomers, such as Pyth and API3.

[Delphi Daily] ETH/BTC Shrugs Off Correction, The Fight For Curve Dominance

  • The crypto market had yet another quiet weekend with very little volume across the top 100 coins (likely a result of most of the industry gathering in Miami). Despite BTC falling less than ETH from current ATHs, ETH looks like the stronger asset for now.

[Delphi Daily] ETH/BTC Correlation, Sentiment Reversals, and Flight to ETH DeFi

  • Crypto majors like BTC and ETH were up for the day on Thursday, but had run into resistance at May 27ths daily open. FIL and SOL were the biggest winners of the day. This edition of the Delphi Daily focuses on this crash’s hardest hit tokens, what ETH/BTC could be looking like, and the potential resurgence of positive market sentiment.

[DeFi] Is the Bitcoin Bull Run Over?

  • Wednesday looked like another (mildly) green day for crypto. ETH and BTC were up 5% and 2% respectively, while CRV and DOGE lead the way up 30% each. In this edition, we looked at a few important data points that are often used to gauge sentiment of various market participants across crypto.

[Delphi Daily] Options Prices, Market Volatility, and DeFi’s Top Dogs

  • After yet another weekend of indecisive price action, crypto markets enjoyed a bounce across the board on Monday. On Tuesday, the market was finding its footing before Coinbase’s announced its 4% rewards card can be spent through Apple Pay and Google Pay, causing another mini pump. While the next few weeks of price action are likely to be choppy and range bound, early data suggests volatility may be culled for now.

[AMA] Tokemak AMA With Carson Cook

  • We were thrilled to host Carson Cook and team for an extensive AMA covering Tokemak. In this discussion we covered how Tokemak is a core piece of infrastructure for enabling sustainable liquidity, the experience for those depositing idle assets to earn yield, the interface for TOKE holders to direct liquidity, a roadmap of the project, how dynamic rewards are computed and much more. Tokemak will enable a more efficient use of projects’ tokens in the bootstrapping phase and within secondary markets. As a disclosure, Delphi is invested in Tokemak.
